Italian Beginners Plus

Tutor: Colleen Vallini

For those who have completed the beginners course or those who are resuming study. We continue to open up the language. Grammar is introduced as required.

Course Outline:

  • Ongoing theme - 'La citta'
  • Means of transport
  • Tell time
  • Typical daily activities - use of reflexive verb
  • Directions
  • Italian cities, regions and capitals
  • Verbi - Piacere/relfexive & reciprocal; Passato prossimo/Irregular vers
  • Oral - usually in situ; role plays (i drammi); practising questions

Sharing the Italian Culture:

  • Italian film festival every October at Luna cinemas
  • Occasional recipe e.g. panforte
  • Sharing snippets of books read e.g. La bella Lingua by Dianne Hales
  • Festivities e.g. Natale
  • Dissection of an Italian song e.g. in 2014 Volare e Marina
  • Travel articles especially cities e.g. Roma, Napoli, Milano, Bologna

Materials required: It is recommended that if students do continue with the languagem that they purchase a Dictionary and an Italian Verb Book (can be purhcased at All Foreign Languages Bookshop, Hay Street (opposite Town Hall) where students from TSFS are given a 10% discount. 

Handouts provided by the tutor.

Language courses provide ongoing learning and are intended to be continued throughout the year, it is advisable to commence in Term One.
