Jude Holland (piano)
Jude is currently in his second year studying piano performance at the UWA Conservatorium. Having learnt under chair of keyboard studies, Graeme Gilling, he completed his AMusA and LMusA diplomas with distinctions in 2019 and 2020. He has been awarded first prizes from various competitions such as the WAMTA Recital and Concerto Competition and the West Australian Pianists Competition.
Within the UWA Conservatorium of Music, he has won many awards including the VOSE Memorial Prize, Irwin Street Concerto Competition, Waveney Wansborough Prize and the Bunning Chamber Music Prize. He received a Delano Music Scholarship and the Ewen Prize for 2021.
Earlier this year, Jude performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No 27 with the UWA Chamber Orchestra, which received a review stating 'Based on this concert, it is no exaggeration to state that he is a once-in-a-generation musician who has the potential to become one of the most significant players of his time.'
Along with fellow musicians Lisa Smith and Max Wung, he also performed in the Darlington Chamber Music Series.
As of 2022, Jude is studying a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) and is a recipient of the Wesley Uniting Church Music Scholarship.
Angela Currie (organ)
Angela Currie studied Pipe Organ and piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her studies in organ then continued with Naji Hakim of La Trinité Paris and Thomas Trotter of Birmingham Town Hall, England as well as choral directing with David Lawrence.
Prior to her move from Scotland to Western Australia Angela’s music career was rich and varied. As a recitalist, music tutor, choral director and accompanist she had a natural flair for engaging with audiences as well as encouraging young people develop their musical talent.
She was in demand as Director of Music/Organist throughout Scotland. Angela finally settled in Edinburgh where, as Director of Music/Organist to Colinton Parish Church, she would consider her ‘golden years’ in her Ministry of Music occurred.
This Ministry was vibrant with a passion for sharing the love of Jesus through music from the youngest to the oldest members of the church: from ‘Mini Choristers (A new project set up in collaboration with the Royal School of Church Music) to choristers all following RSCM ‘Voice for Life’ Scheme training the musicians both vocally and spiritually. She also worked extensively with the band, directing contemporary worship, the choir through traditional worship and with the youth group, musicals such as Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar, all raising the standard of different styles of music in worship. This Ministry played a huge part in the local community and drew folk of all ages into the church through simply engaging through this gift of music.
As an Organ Recitalist Angela has performed in various venues throughout Scotland most notably in Edinburgh, St Giles Cathedral, St Andrews and St Georges, Greyfriars, Palmerston Place and Colinton Parish Churches and in Paisley Abbey, RSAMD, Kelivngrove Art Gallery and Glasgow Cathedral as well as Dunblane Cathedral, The Church of the Holy Rude, Stirling.
As an accompanist (organ and piano) she freelanced with Choral Societies including performances of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Handel’s Messiah to name but a few.
As a Choral Conductor she directed Palmerston Place Choristers including a premier performance in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh with composer David Fanshawe and his African Sanctus, The Pentland Singers, Colinton Choristers and The Sirius Choir with its debut in Edinburgh’s Queens Hall.
Angela was not only much in demand as a piano tutor teaching both privately and at Fettes College, Edinburgh, but was also the Musical Director for Scottish Youth Theatre Summer Festivals including performances in the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow and the Kings Theatre in Edinburgh. She was also an organ tutor with Scotland’s Royal School of Church Music Branch as part of their training scheme for organists entering the profession.
Since arriving in Australia Angela has performed as an organist, pianist, accompanist and Choral Director throughout WA. She was piano tutor, accompanist and Choral Director All Saints’ College in Perth and as Choral Director to Mandurah City Choral Society, the choir was dramatically transformed under her direction.
As Choral Director and accompanist for the Royal School of Church Music Chorister Courses in various locations throughout the State, she again had the opportunity to inspire the next generation of church musicians.
She is currently in demand as an organ tutor at various schools in Perth bring prominence to the Pipe Organ in WA.
As Director of Music/Organist at Wesley Uniting Church in the City of Perth, Angela has brought a vibrancy to the Ministry of Music, through its Music Scholars and ‘Wesley at One’ Recital Series bringing beautiful music and outreach to the heart of the city.
Angela is an AMEB examiner and is also Vice President to ANCA (Australian National Choral Association).
When Angela isn’t involved in music she can be found Face Timing family in Scotland, spending time with her husband Jim, their two daft but adorable ‘Muttleys’, and as ‘Mima’ to two adorable grandchildren.
