Station 3

Image of Station 3

Stay  with  me …the first fall? (detail of work in progress), oil on linen, 152 x 152 cm. Photograph by Joe Tareha.

This painting is the first in a series that tells a mother’s story. A story that is personal. A story that is common to many parents.

We watch our children grow and become themselves. Along the way they fall.

We all fall.

Some fall harder than others.

Some pay dearly.

Two young men in Bali.

Did they fall just once?

No second chance?

Who are we to take chances away?

Some of us have no choice but to watch… and wait.

Some choose not to live; their fall is so great.

Some fall again and again.

Those who love them watch…

and wait…

and hope…

Meditation

Jesus was exhausted.
He was in pain.
He was going to His death.
The cross was heavy and He fell.
He was flesh and blood like us,
He was struggling.
